Richmond, VA and Viareggio, Italy – Waterway Guide Media, LLC and Aqua Map (GEC s.r.l.) have been named the official guidebook and mobile navigation application, respectively, for the Sail4th 250 New York celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Tall ships and naval vessels from across the globe will visit the port of New York and New Jersey beginning early in July culminating for the July 4, 2026, celebration.

Waterway Guide Media and Aqua Map were selected to develop multiple digital platforms that will provide navigation advice, online charts and maps, and details about where visiting recreational boats will anchor in the harbor during the parades of sail. Both companies are recognized for their online and mobile applications that provide navigational guidance and information to subscribers worldwide.

Waterway Guide Media editor-in-chief, Ed Tillett, said, "We are honored to have been selected to work with the Sail4th 250 organization. Our long term affiliation with Aqua Map as data trading partners is especially rewarding in this instance for the value that we can bring to helping boaters navigate the areas of operations during the July 4th weekend in the ports of New York and New Jersey."

Due to the large number of tall ships and military vessels that will be part of the Sail4th 250 New York commemorations and the International Naval Review (INR), security and safety are paramount considerations. Aqua Map has engineered a dedicated solution that will show all restricted areas, as well as approved anchorages, for spectator boats and is making the Aqua Map mobile app available at no charge to all visitors. Waterway Guide Media will share Aqua Map data on its online web application to reinforce distribution of the guidance and information necessary for spectator boats entering the harbor.

Enrico Valle, CEO at Aqua Map, said, "We are thrilled to make our technical expertise available to ensure that the maritime community has the most accurate and up-to-date information and to contribute in guaranteeing the success of Sail4th 250 celebration."

Chris O’Brien, president of Sail4th 250, said: “The unprecedented level of detailed information appearing on the AquaMap mobile app and web-based interface have already fascinated the recreational boating community.  This exceptionally useful tool enhances the safety, security and enjoyment of the events that will take place during the Semiquincentennial commemorations. We are thrilled to welcome this partnership with Waterway Guide and Aqua Map.”

Sail4th 250 is a non-profit organization with the mission to plan and execute the celebration with partner agencies and participants worldwide. New Orleans, Norfolk, Baltimore, and Boston will also stage tall ship visits as part of Sail 250 beginning in late May 2026. New York's event is scheduled for July 3-8, 2026.
