Sail4th 250 and America250 Announce Historic Partnership to Honor America’s 250th Anniversary

October 13, 2025

Washington, D.C. – America250, the bipartisan organization charged by Congress to lead the commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, has announced a national supporting partnership with Sail4th 250, the non-profit organizing the 30-nation international tall ship extravaganza in New York on July 4, 2026.

In conjunction with the U.S. Navy, the events will include an International Naval Review and a multi-nation aerial review in New York.

As the successor to Operation Sail, Sail 4th proudly commemorates patriotic American milestones with a massive armada of the world’s largest tall ships. Together, America250 and Sail4th will bring history to life, fostering a deeper connection to the nation’s past while shaping the future of civic engagement and historical appreciation.

“We couldn’t be more excited to join forces with Sail4th 250 to mark this once-in-a-generation milestone in such a powerful and visible way,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “These ships sailing into the New York Harbor will be a breathtaking tribute to our maritime history, the brotherhood of the sea, and goodwill between nations.”

Ambassador Monica Crowley, Chief of Protocol of the United States and President Trump’s administration representative for America’s 250th birthday, said, “The sight of so many tall ships from allied nations around the world that will be honoring our country and celebrating America’s 250th anniversary in the Port of New York and New Jersey will be truly inspiring.  This weeklong event will bring us together like never before in the common pursuit of freedom, liberty and democracy.”

Christopher O’Brien, president of Sail4th, said: “The opportunity of welcoming these magnificent tall ships parading in honor of our nation creates lasting memories for a whole new generation of families. Together, we will amplify efforts to commemorate this historic anniversary and inspire future generations to connect with their American story.”

Through their respective educational programs, America250 and Sail4th will engage Americans of all ages, focusing on empowering the next generation with knowledge and pride in the nation’s history.
